Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today
I am a cliché addict. To me, cliché’s are camp and annoyingly on the nose, or nonsensical.
For example:
- “Many hands make light work”. Sounds more like a Chinese proverb or fortune cookie, but whatever.
- “As horny as a three balled tomcat”. Since when are deformities a gateway to an increased sexual appetite? Again, nonsensical.
Today’s cliché, “Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today”, a simplistic reminder that life is short. No shit. I’m oblivious to the the killer fly epidemic? Or being in a concrete dispenser’s line of fire? Or a tightly wound bodice on a dress?!
This cliché is such a procrastination buzz kill. No, it invalidates the vitality of procrastination. As if procrastinating isn’t a worthy endeavor. Denial, self-loathing, guilt and being trapped inside one’s head are time consuming art forms. To categorize them as without merit is a slap in the face.
My spin on this cliché: Don’t be all you can be in a day. Give it a week, at least.
This post is hotter’in 2 muskrats f*ckin’ in a wool sock.
“A penny saved is a penny earned.”
Really? You mean that if I save a penny then I have a penny? WOW! Who wouldathunk it? Brilliant analysis!
